If you unpack tools, you should seevmware-tools-distrib/bin/vmware-uninstall-tools.pl. You can not post a blank message. I was able to proceed after reading your post. The way I got rid of the old installation of vmware tools was simply by deleting the vmware-tools folder in /etc, as outlined by this link here.

can anyone help? i tried doing it again but accidentally closed the terminal :S whenever i try to do something with this vmware it always fails for some reason........ If there is norm -rf /etc/vmware /etc/vmware-toolsand then try doing tools installation again. have a peek at these guys it seems, the first thing the upgrade does is delete all files in the system.
